What’s coming up in the ED?
Casualty spoilers follow.
Following this weekend’s standalone Christmas special, there isn’t long to wait until the next visit to Holby ED, as Casualty returns next week with its latest boxset of episodes, which is titled ‘Public Property’.
The new series will explore where the line is drawn between working in a public service job and having a private life. Jodie will take centre stage, and she will get involved in a dangerous situation when she goes against the advice of her new mentor Dylan.
In next week’s episode (December 28), Jodie and Dylan respond to a dramatic car crash, while Stevie and Siobhan work together on a case, and student paramedic Indie clashes with Jan.
Here is a full round-up of all the biggest moments to come, as the new series begins:
1. Jodie gets a warning
Jodie, Rida and Cam make a funny video together while on shift and post it on social media, but Siobhan is not impressed when she finds out. Siobhan says there are lots of negative comments and she has had complaints, so she wants Jodie to take the video down.
Things get worse for Jodie when the mother of one of her patients finds the video and doesn’t want her to treat her daughter anymore.
2. Dylan makes an offer
Jodie gets a lifeline when Dylan offers to mentor her, and the pair go out for dinner together to discuss her future and her career plans. Dylan explains that her dad Max contacted him to say it was the anniversary of her mum’s death. Jodie is annoyed and thinks he has only agreed to mentor her out of pity.
Upset, Jodie continues to order more drinks. But as they are about to leave, a car suddenly crashes through the restaurant window. Dylan takes charge, but he doesn’t let Jodie help as she has been drinking. What will they do?

3. Stevie and Siobhan team up
When Stevie spots bruises on a young patient’s hand, she is suspicious and tells Siobhan. But Siobhan thinks something else is wrong and orders bloods and is proved right when the results come back.
The pair haven’t seen eye-to-eye since Siobhan found out about Stevie’s affair with her husband. But as they work on the case together, are they able to start making amends?
4. Indie clashes with Jan
This series introduces new character Indie (Naomi Wakszlak), a trainee paramedic who ends up getting off on the wrong foot with Jan during her training. But after Jan gives an inspiring speech, Indie changes her opinion. She is determined to show Jan that she is dedicated to her training and wants to do her third-year university placement at Holby. Will Jan allow her on board?
5. Faith gets news
Faith is waiting to hear back from the CPS about Luka, after her son previously retaliated against his school bully Noah and assaulted him. She is relieved when she gets told that the CPS have decided not to prosecute. But is Luka able to move on from what happened?
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
