Home and Away actress Ally Harris has been cast as Summer Bay nurse Dana, joining the Australian soap alongside her on-screen sister, Harper, who is played by Jessica Redmayne
Home and Away newbie Ally Harris has opened up on her Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) diagnosis.
Ally, 26, who is one of two new Summer Bay residents in the form of nurse Dana Matheson alongside her on-screen sister, Harper, was unaware she had the condition until adulthood. Actress Ally previously starred in The Claremont Murders and Harrow, before landing a three-year on contract on the hit Australian soap.
Now she has discussed how she had no idea what career path she wanted to take until she was in high school, but thankfully the condition hasn’t hindered her achievements. Growing up unaware she had ADHD, Channel 5 star Ally said she felt inadequate in certain scenarios.
She said: “I felt a lot of pressure and kept asking myself, ‘Why can’t you follow through? Why can’t you finish things?’ Now, I have more of a handle on it and have become obsessed with getting lots of things done. It can be overwhelming.
“I wasn’t among those young people who aspired to be actors. However, I used to play with my cutlery at the table when I was little – I had a whole series of stories for them,” much to her mum’s frustration.
