Bradley Walsh’s Son Barney Branded ‘Arrogant’ Over Speeding Offence – Casualty Star Faces Backlash

Barney Walsh, the 26-year-old Casualty actor and son of TV star Bradley Walsh, found himself in hot water after being labeled “arrogant” by magistrates during a speeding case. The actor, who also co-hosts Gladiators alongside his father, was fined £1,000 after admitting to driving at speeds between 93mph and 95mph in a 2023 Mercedes on the M4 in Wiltshire earlier this year.

The incident, which occurred on March 6, 2024, was brought to Swindon Magistrates Court, where Barney chose not to appear in person due to filming commitments, opting instead to enter his guilty plea through legal representatives. This decision didn’t sit well with presiding magistrate Mark Baker, who criticized Barney’s absence, calling it “arrogant.” Baker remarked, “Other people have made significant efforts to appear in court today, yet Mr. Walsh seems to think he is exempt.”

Prosecutors alleged Barney was caught speeding at 97mph, but his legal team disputed this, arguing he was traveling at slightly lower speeds. Despite facing a potential £2,500 fine for such an offence, the court reduced the penalty to £1,000, citing leniency. Barney was also handed five penalty points on his license, bringing his total to eight, and ordered to pay £490 in court costs within 28 days.

Barney’s acting credits include roles in Doctors, Law & Order, Death in Paradise, and the film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. On Casualty, he portrays Cameron, a role that has brought him further into the limelight. His off-screen controversy, however, has sparked debate among fans and the media alike about accountability and responsibility for public figures.
