BBC Casualty’s Jodie Whyte star says ‘she should learn from this’ as Dylan faces questions

Casualty: Car crashes into restaurant as Jodie and Dylan argue

Casualty star Anna Chell, who plays Jodie Whyte in the long-running BBC medical drama, has admitted she “didn’t realise it would go this far” following her character’s most recent indiscretion.

The young medic slept with a man called Aaron, who is the husband of a woman who died as her mentor Dylan Keogh (Will Beck) and Jodie helped her give birth after her car crashed into a restaurant.

During their dalliance, she appeared to imply Dylan had a choice as to whether to save the mother as well as the child, leaving Aaron fuming, and he later reported Dylan for what he perceived to be his error of medical judgement.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk as Dylan faces questions about the incident in the latest instalment, Anna admitted: “I just think she didn’t realise it would go this far and be blown this out of proportion.

“I think she felt like it would be like all the other times that she’s been with somebody. But it wasn’t because it involves life or death. He’s (Aaron) a broken man. It’s a broken family. It’s a broken home.

“I think this time should be the last time (she makes reckless choices about who she sleeps with),” Anna reflected.

“Not that she should ever have done it, but I think surely she should learn from this, because it’s got much bigger than I think she’s ever experienced before.

“But I also think she just runs away with herself. She’s very impulsive and she makes mistakes, but there’s a lot of deep care in her.

But I do think that her default is thinking that sleeping with a man, or having a connection with a man, can often solve everyone’s problems and save them. And it doesn’t work, and maybe after this time, she will learn that. We’ll see,” she pondered.

“I think she’s deeply disappointed that she’s let Dylan down. She loves working with Dylan. They’re a good team. She’s just really broken that trust, and it’s a bit of a slap in the face for Dylan.

“She’s really disappointed that she’s sort of broken that trust and so guilty and anxious about everything that’s going on, and especially she probably thinks now that Dylan’s never going to trust her again, and is not going to want to mentor her again.”

Casualty continues on BBC One on Saturday nights. Previous episodes are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
