It was confirmed yesterday that McGranger is quitting her role as Home and Away icon Irene Roberts, with the actor set to film her final scenes next month before Irene leaves Summer Bay behind later this year.

Calling the actor her “best mate” and “favourite work mate”, Nicodemou wrote: “I love you so much @lynnemcgranger I think I’m still in denial that you’re leaving. I may not let you leave.
“Maybe I’ll just kidnap you and let you live in our dressing room hahaha. Honestly though the show won’t be the same and my day won’t be the same without you in it! We all adore you!”
Nicodemou accompanied the post with a series of photos of herself and McGranger together across the years, alongside some of their co-stars.
McGranger has responded with a sweet comment, writing: “Oh sweetheart I know I’ll be in bits when the day arrives. But we’ll be forever friends and there’ll be many more lunches, dinners, and catchups and laughs. And you’ll get to share a dressing room with someone who leaves their pants on”.

McGranger has played Irene since January 1993, which has made her the longest-serving female soap cast member in Australian history.
Announcing her exit, the actor said: “After almost 33 years in my dream role and working everyday with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it’s bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life.”
The star has since revealed that she had a hand in creating Irene’s exit plot, saying that the soap’s producers “loved” her idea for Irene’s final storyline.
“(The story) is very pertinent, and very important, and I am really very proud of it,” she said. “From what I have read, and from what we have filmed so far, it is so well written — I just hope I can do it justice.”
