Home and Away will explore Eliza Sherwood’s dark side as she becomes obsessed with Harper Matheson’s baby.

The newcomer was recently taken in by Roo Stewart, following a fire at her old foster home. Eliza’s strange behaviour and mysterious past have begun to raise red flags among viewers.

In next week’s scenes, Roo attempts to help Eliza integrate into the community by taking her to the coffee cart to meet Justin and Leah. The teen doesn’t want to chat and asks if they can leave as soon as she’s handed her hot chocolate.

On the beach, Eliza opens up about her past struggles while discussing her school experience. Roo offers to homeschool Eliza, hoping it would be more engaging, but Eliza seems unenthused either way.

Alf isn’t pleased when he hears of Roo’s plans, and worries Eliza won’t be able to make friends if she’s homeschooled. They struggle to engage Eliza at dinner and she leaves the room with her food untouched.

Teary Eliza tells Roo to stop pretending that she likes her, revealing that she’s had the same promises made to her in the past. She fears Roo will get sick of her, just like everyone else.

Later, the homeschooling gets off to a shaky start. But when Eliza sees pictures of bandaged wounds and saws used for amputation in a history textbook, her interest is suddenly piqued.

Alf joins the lesson with stories of his time in Vietnam, and Eliza asks him what it was like to see people die. He then takes her for a walk down to the surf club, but Eliza is still reluctant to talk to people.

Meanwhile, Eliza becomes surprising chatty after seeing Harper and Tane leaving Salt. Once Tane’s gone, she rushes over to Harper, placing a hand on her baby bump and asking what it feels like when the baby kicks. Roo sweeps in, pulling Eliza away and later urging her to apologise. But it’s just the beginning of Eliza’s interest in Harper’s baby.

Alf is pleased when Eliza asks him questions while he cleans his fishing knives, mistaking it for interest in fishing. But, after dinner, Eliza goes up to her room and pulls a fishing knife from her pocket, having stolen it from the bait shop. She adds it to a collection of odd trophies in her music box, before stashing it back under her bed. What is the troubled teen hiding?
