“I think Lacy definitely cares for Theo, but the relationship she has with Gage is toxic,” Pennington explains. “It’s not a healthy situation, and she knows that, but she’s trapped in it. She doesn’t really know what a better life could look like. She’s playing with fire, but she’s too caught up in the drama to realize the danger she’s in.”

Pennington’s upbringing in a multicultural household, with a strong New Zealand influence, has shaped her ability to understand and embrace different cultures, and she often speaks of how much she loves visiting her family’s homeland. “New Zealand is like a second home to me,” Pennington says, proudly noting that she holds a Kiwi passport. “My mom is from Wellington, my dad is from Auckland, and we would visit every year when I was growing up.
