Home and Away Stars Reveal Their Favourite On-Set Companion – Meet Buddy, the Beloved Bay Dog!

The sun, the sand, the surf… and Buddy, the four-legged star quietly stealing the show behind the scenes of Home and Away! While the drama may unfold daily in Summer Bay, it’s a certain tail-wagging, furry friend who’s been melting hearts on set — and the cast can’t stop gushing about him.

🎬 Who Is Buddy?

Buddy is a gentle golden retriever who has become something of a mascot for the cast and crew of Home and Away. Often seen lounging near trailers or popping up during outdoor shoots, Buddy isn’t just a visitor — he’s family.

Though he doesn’t appear on screen often, Buddy is well known among cast and crew as the unofficial emotional support pup, always ready with a cuddle or a calming nuzzle in between takes.

❤️ Cast Members Sing His Praises

Speaking recently in interviews, several of the Home and Away stars couldn’t hold back their love for Buddy.

“Buddy just lights up the whole set,” said Ada Nicodemou (Leah). “There are days when things get intense emotionally, and then Buddy walks by with his tail wagging and suddenly everyone’s smiling.”

James Stewart (Justin Morgan) called Buddy “the ultimate good boy”, revealing that the dog often sits near his chair and keeps him company while he’s learning lines.

Meanwhile, Emily Symons (Marilyn) shared that Buddy has become especially popular during long outdoor shoots, where he’ll often lie in the shade with the crew or chase after a tennis ball between takes.

“He’s got this calming energy. No matter how busy the day is, Buddy just reminds us all to take a breath.”

🐾 A Dog With a Routine

Buddy reportedly comes to set almost every day with one of the crew members, and over time, he’s created his own routine — greeting cast members, making rounds around the trailers, and waiting patiently during takes. He knows when it’s lunchtime, and yes — he’s been known to sneak a treat or two from the catering team!

Despite not having a role in the show (yet!), fans have begun to notice Buddy in the background of some social media posts and behind-the-scenes content. Some are even calling for Buddy to make an official appearance in Summer Bay!

📸 A Fan Favourite on Social Media

Buddy has earned a growing fanbase on social media, with cast members regularly posting photos of him lounging, posing, or even wearing adorable costumes on themed filming days.

On Instagram, fans have commented:

“I’d watch a whole spin-off with Buddy!”
“Forget the drama, we need more of the dog!”
“Summer Bay’s goodest boy.”

🐕 Could Buddy Get a Storyline?

While nothing is confirmed, producers have hinted that a four-legged storyline isn’t out of the question. One source joked that Buddy’s “star power” might just earn him a cameo in a future episode, possibly tied to one of the Bay’s younger residents.

Whether he’s chasing waves or curled up under a production chair, Buddy has become more than just a pet — he’s part of the heart and soul of the Home and Away family.
