CHARLES Venn has revealed a real-life tragedy behind his heartbreaking Casualty storyline.
The star, who plays Jacob Masters in the long-running medical drama, said he can relate to his current scripts.
Casualty fans recently watched the character become the legal guardian of his grandchild after his son Blake abandoned his child.
Jacob’s estranged son had left baby Carter outside the A&E department and hasn’t been seen since.
As the paramedic grapples with his new-found responsibility, actor Charles has revealed a real-life similarity for him.
The 51-year-old said Jacob’s feeling that he could have done more for Blake is just how he felt when his younger sister tragically died in 2022.
Speaking to the Express, he explained: “There is an element of definitely contrition on Jacob’s part.
“He feels he could have done more, he could have done better.”
Charles added: “I know that feeling myself in a way. I remember when my sister passed, and I remember feeling in my heart, I wish I could have done more.”
Meanwhile, Charles recently became a grandad himself in real life.
He previously told What to Watch: “I recently became a grandad myself in real life, so the timing feels like art imitating life!
“Jacob is definitely the most fulfilling character I’ve ever played and I’ve grown as an actor with him.”
Meanwhile, Charles was recently snapped putting his arms around former EastEnders star Danielle Harold.
The pair were leaving the TRIC Awards last month and appeared to be in deep conversation.
