David Boreanaz and the SEAL Team cast are celebrating a milestone: 100 episodes! ET Only was on the set of the Paramount+ drama in July, where Boreanaz and his co-stars reflected on achieving a rare TV milestone that drops on Sunday.

“Just being able to be in this moment and reflect, not only on what the entire crew and cast have accomplished, but also getting to this place and saying, ‘Wow, all these chapters That process and all those moments led to this special thing.” this moment,’” the actor and executive producer shared with ET’s Matt Cohen, “it’s an understanding of that work and an understanding of the pain that you have to go through to get to the end of it.” trip. It reflects many things. in many ways. I looked back at my body and mind, it was a little sore, but I felt good to be participating.

“I celebrated 100 episodes in Phase 3 for CSI: New York so it was nostalgic to see the staff talking about its importance,” A.J. said Buckley. “This is an incredibly special cast and the story that we’re telling and being part of something really important and the men and women who have come home and told these stories and brought They come to the forum. It’s an honor to work together.” stand with Neil [Brown Jr.] and the rest of the cast, to be a part of something that really ensures the authenticity of what’s out there for these men and women hey, how difficult it was for them to return home.

Brown added: “The fortunate thing about our show is that everyone knows that we have more special operators, more veterans working on the show than any other show or movie under the sun.” My understanding, this is incredible and so you get to hear their stories continuously and you get to impart what you learn from them into your character, into your backstory. and into the subtext. So it’s great to be able to showcase their efforts and to be able to do it honestly and authentically.

Of course, Boreanaz is no stranger to headlining a long-running show, having celebrated 200 episodes of Bones and surpassed 100 episodes of Angel. The actor shares his secret to maintaining longevity on a TV show to reach the top.

“It’s a combination and first and foremost it always depends on the writing and maybe there’s a commitment to taking the characters to a deeper level because taking the script, looking at it, understanding it and trying Doing is one thing. what’s there, but you want to push yourself more and stimulate the writers to write more for it, right?” Boreanaz said. “And that’s your job as an actor. That’s what we do and I’m so lucky and blessed to do so many shows. This show in particular for me has really opened up amazing opportunities to learn more about myself and engage.” character to a higher level. It was a blast, it was truly a explosion.”
Boreanaz says it’s important for him to be “present” when choosing which projects he chooses to invest his time and energy into. “I really just stay in the present and I don’t look at what the show can be, I look at where I am with a show and what the character can do, and I do that every day. It’s not really about getting to 50 or a hundred or whatever, just to get a pilot is very rare and difficult in this business. To show and run that is even difficult “Stay in the present and work in the present and go from there.”

In the 100th episode, the Bravo team suddenly finds themselves on a deeply personal mission after returning home from Syria. As he described it, it was “a complicated episode”, explaining that he wished to pay homage to the 1978 war film, The Deer Hunter.

“I wanted to have that kind of connection with the brothers so you get a little bit of a feeling of what that’s like. As intense as that movie is, it’s not The Deer Hunter. It’s really brings these characters and these brothers to a point that really examines their journey and what their pain is and whether they can make it or not,” Boreanaz said. character-driven shows and this episode in particular will be truly eye-opening.

Boreanaz and his co-stars also teased the upcoming tense moment.

“The movie is character-driven, so I can’t give too much away about what Jason Hayes will go through, but he’s been through a lot of pain and he’s going to find some light

dded Toni Trucks, “There are a lot of characters, without giving too much away, that are changing positions that will rock the dynamic of the team in a permanent way.”

As for what they’d like to see their characters so that they haven’t yet?

“We’ve done a hell of a lot. We’ve flown on Blackhawks, we’ve been on little birds… This would be a little boys’ dream. We’re literally going to work, we’re playing with guns and doing everything. The one thing that I’ve always wanted to do was dangle from a helicopter,” said Buckley. “I want to be like [Die Hard’s] John McClane. [He] was my favorite character. I just want to be John McClane from one thing and be like, ‘Yeah, yeah!’”
