Sweetpea Cast: Fallout Star and BAFTA Winner, Former Casualty Actress Joins New Sky ‘Coming-of-Rage’ Series

New Sky series Sweetpea features a cast including breakout actress and a BAFTA winner. British actress Ella Purnell takes centre stage in Sweetpea and has faced her fair share of trauma across her life.
She grows frustrated at being ignored by her family, work colleagues and envious of the success her school bully has achieved. But a series of personal tragedies spark a violent urge in Rhiannon that rocks the sleepy town of Carnsham.
Based on the 2017 novel by C.J. Skuse, the new series has a cast from across British TV including Doctor Who, Slow Horses and Rings of Power. This is who appears in the new dark comedy and where you recognise actors from.

Ella Purnell plays Rhiannon

Ella Purnell plays undermined Rhiannon who is tired of being ignored by people and violently flips on a difficult day. Rhiannon learns she has a taste for murder and people start taking notice of her.
Speaking about her character, Ella said: “Rhiannon believes that there are good people and there are bad people, and that the bad people deserve to die. This black-and-white way of thinking is a trauma response she subconsciously adopted at a young age in order to process what happened to her and help her navigate the world.
“That’s so clearly shown in every character. Even AJ, the nicest guy, has his flaws too!”
Ella Purnell is widely known for playing Lucy MacLean in the Prime Video series Fallout, as well as Jackie Taylor in Yellowjackets and Jinx in Arcane.
Nicole Lecky plays Julia

Nicole Lecky stars as Rhiannon’s school bully Julia who returns to Carnsham. The estate agent appears to have a perfect life with a successful career, perfect fiance and home, which irritates Rhiannon after her tormenting in school.
Julia has even convinced herself she didn’t bully Rhiannon at school even after Rhiannon won’t let Julia forget it.
Nicole Lecky won a BAFTA for starring and writing Mood and has also appeared in Casualty, Fresh Meat, Sense8 and Death in Paradise.
Calam Lynch plays AJ

Calam Lynch plays AJ who is given the junior reporter role Rhiannon wanted at the Carnsham Gazette. Rhiannon thinks he is yet another entitled nepo-baby who gets the stuff she deserves but they start to speak to each other and become close friends. l.
The actor previously appeared in Bridgerton and Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.
Jon Pointing plays Craig
Craig, played by Jon Pointing, is a handyman who worked for Rhiannon’s father’s building business and wants to buy the business. He shared a one-night stand with Rhiannon but is drawn into her new personality and confidence.
Viewers may recognise Jon Pointing from roles in Big Boys, Wueenie and Smothered.
Leah Harvey plays Marina

Junior detective Marina is played by Leah Harvey and becomes growingly frustrated by her colleagues dismissing her skills. Leah Harvey was nominated for a BAFTA for their role as Salvor Hardin in the series Foundation and also appeared in A Gentleman in Moscow and the film Tuesday.
Jeremy Swift plays Norman

Jeremy Swift plays Carnsham Gazette Editor Norman who likes telling his reporters and staff what to do – but it’s unclear how much work he actually does in his office. Norman initially is dismissive of Rhiannon, calling her Sweetpea, but becomes impressed by her new journalism talents.
Jeremy Swift previously appeared in Ted Lasso and Downton Abbey as well as Foyle’s War and The Durrells.
Dustin Demri-Burns plays Jeff

Senior reporter Jeff is played by Dustin Demri-Burns who enjoys his status as the paper’s most experienced and talented journalist. Jeff becomes increasingly suspicious of Rhiannon in the newsroom and is keen to find out her secrets to her sources and stories.
The British actor and writer has appeared in Slow Horses and Am I Being Unreasonable? as well as The Great, Stath Lets Flats, Sick Note and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
Dino Kelly plays Marcus

Dino Kelly stars as property developer and Julia’s partner. Dino has starred in Trigger Point, Alexander: The Making of a God and Peaky Blinders.
Ingrid Oliver plays D.I. Diana St. John

Ingrid Oliver stars as D.I. Diana St. John who is dismissive of junior detective Marina. She often sends her out to do her odd jobs or return items on her behalf.
