BBC Casualty fans ‘heartbroken’ over ’emotional rollercoaster’ episode

After 12 weeks Casualty’s “Breaking Point” storyline came to an end tonight in a nail-biting episode.

Casualty fans couldn’t help but express their heartbreak tonight as the current storyline came to a head and Rash Masum (played by Neet Mohan) tried to take his own life in the long-running BBC medical drama. His actions came after he took the fall for nurse Rida Amaan and said he was the whistleblower who had released damning footage from the ED to a TV documentary company.

The hugely dramatic episode saw the culmination of the current story arc called Breaking Point, which has been running for twelve weeks. It has seen Rash struggle with his mental health and the hospital rocked by a TV documentary after a whistleblower released footage from the ED and paramedic Teddy Gowan (Milo Clarke) sexually assaulted and forced to deal with the aftermath of his attack.<

Fans were in thrall of the episode and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their feelings. @Mrs_AhmedZaman wrote: “Tonight’s episode of #Casualty – an emotional rollercoaster. Sublime.”

@thiznited commented: “That was the hardest watch of my life #Casualty,” followed by a broken heart emoji. @TypicallyDivya chimed in: “Tariq finding Rash unconscious actually broke my heart #Casualty.”

@griannedoherty opined “Sorry, but forget Rida being the whistleblower for just a sec, the absolute state of Rash right now? How the hell has no one noticed/commented? Poor bloke looks more like a homeless man, than a qualified E.D Doctor. He needs help. Just saying… #Casualty.”

@E_R_Knight ruminated: “#casualty emotional final episode today. The sad broadchurch musical notes gave it some extra oomph,,.”

@Suzy_H14 concured saying: “Now that was an emotional episode, brilliant acting by everyone but especially @neetmohan It is important people talk & are there for each other #casualty.”

The heart wrenching episode saw Rida admit to Rash that she was the whistleblower. However, before she could confess to Clinical Lead Patrick Onley (Jamie Glover) Rash took the fall for her and said that he was responsible as he resigned his job.

When Rida found out that he had quit she emphatically admitted her guilt however her colleagues were not prepared to let her lose her livelihood.

In a remarkable moment inspired by the famous “I’m Spratacus” scene from the classic 1960 movie they all stood up and took the blame.

Unfortunately this came too late for Rash who had already put his plan to end his life in motion and viewers will have to wait to see if he survives.

Elsewhere paramedic Teddy was also struggling as he once again confronted his attacker Hayley who has been charged with his assault.

And Jan Jennings (Di Botcher) came up with a solution to Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) childcare issues.
