Bad Cop to Good Cop: Jeremy Lindsay Taylor Returns to ‘Home and Away’ as a Copper AGAIN!

Fans of Home and Away have been buzzing with the return of familiar face Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, who has rejoined the cast – not as his previous villainous character, but as a brand new police officer! The actor is set to make a significant impact in Summer Bay, playing a very different kind of cop this time around.

From Corrupt Detective to By-the-Book Sergeant:

  • Past Role (Bad Cop): Jeremy Lindsay Taylor was last seen in Summer Bay in 2016 (and briefly in 2017) as Detective Dylan Carter. Carter was a corrupt police officer involved in the Charlotte King murder investigation, and he was also the abusive ex-fiancé of Kat Chapman. His tenure was marked by manipulation and shady dealings.
  • New Role (Good Cop): Taylor has now returned to the show as Sergeant David Langham, the new police sergeant at Yabbie Creek police station. This time, he’s described as a “straight-talking, by-the-book cop who is determined to ensure his new team toe the line.” This includes having immediate friction with Senior Constable Cash Newman, who doesn’t get off to the best start with his new boss.

A New Family & Deep Secrets:

Sergeant Langham isn’t just arriving to shake up the police force; he comes with a deeply personal storyline:

  • Estranged Father: David Langham is actually the estranged father of Lacey Miller (Sophea Pennington), a character who debuted in Summer Bay a few months before his arrival and has been “missing” for six months.
  • New Daughter: He arrives in town with his other daughter, Jo Langham (Maddison Brown), who will also be joining the cast.
  • Family Trauma: Taylor has stated that all three of them (David, Lacey, and Jo) are “dealing with trauma, and trying to reconnect, but it’s not going really well.” Viewers will uncover the truth behind the event that shattered this once-happy family.

Why the Return?

Taylor’s casting as Sergeant Langham was kept under wraps for about six months while he was filming. He expressed his excitement about being back on the long-running series, calling it a “whirlwind” and “very, very exciting.” He’s no stranger to playing men in uniform, having portrayed several police officers throughout his career, but he considers Langham his favorite because of his “by-the-book” nature, which he believes Summer Bay desperately needs.

His new episodes began airing in late May 2025 (in Australia), and fans can expect David Langham to bring both police procedural drama and intense family emotions to the Bay.
