BBC Casualty shares first look at new series with devastating pregnancy and crash

A gripping new trailer for Casualty’s latest boxset, Internal Affairs, has dropped, revealing a shock pregnancy and a dramatic ambulance crash in the Emergency Department. Hot on the heels of last week’s season finale, the fresh episodes are set to launch this Saturday, March 15, introducing the new clinical lead Flynn Byron, played by Olly Rix, known for his role in Call the Midwife.

Flynn makes an unconventional entrance as a patient before taking charge, with the trailer teasing the serious accident he’s involved in at the start of the series. The tension mounts when Dylan warns the incoming chief that the ED is not a battlefield, leading Flynn to sharply respond, “Maybe it takes an outsider to see what needs to be done?” This conflict appears to intensify, culminating in a scene where Flynn aggressively confronts a colleague.

The trailer also unveils Flynn’s ties to surgeon Russell Whitelaw, portrayed by Robert Bathurst from Cold Feet, who reminds Flynn of the stakes: “I put my reputation on the line backing you for this job.”

Russell’s demanding nature in surgery causes friction among his team members Rida Amaan and Nicole Piper. But as Rida adopts a cutthroat attitude, she finds herself unsettled by an event at work, reports the Mirror.

There’s cause for celebration in Holby as it seems Iain Dean and Faith Cadogan are set to tie the knot this series, bringing a much-needed dose of happiness. But the ED is soon rocked by catastrophe when an ambulance smashes into the hospital, endangering the entire team.

Adding to the series’ intensity, Stevie Nash faces her own battles, grappling with the aftermath of Rich Walker’s downfall. The drama escalates when police search Stevie’s home, hinting at a sinister plot against her.

Yet, there’s another twist for Stevie a trailer clip shows her clutching a positive pregnancy test, her expression one of shock and worry.

Elsewhere, Indie Jankowski hits breaking point, inflicting harm on an injured patient. Viewers are left wondering about the man’s identity and his possible ties to the student paramedic.

Olly, set to join the cast, teased: “Flynn crashes into the world of it from a very different background, resulting in a complex and exciting story in Internal Affairs and beyond. It’s a brilliant new chapter for the show and I am excited for the audience to get to know Flynn.”
