BBC Casualty surprise romance teased as Sophia star drops huge Dylan hint

EXCLUSIVE: Former EastEnders star Kellie Shirley recently joined the cast of Casualty as mental health nurse Sophia Peters.

Casualty newcomer Kellie Shirley, who plays Sophia Peters in the long running BBC medical drama, has opened up about a potential romance between her character and Dylan Keogh (William Beck). The pair didn’t get off to the most auspicious of starts but Kellie admits that Sophia’s feelings have now shifted towards the medic.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk she explained: “I think he’s like an enigma to her kind of thing and she’s fascinated by him. You know, those kind of, those guys who are troubled souls.

“They’re the sexy ones, because you just think, ‘What are you about? What’s going on? What’s happened?’ And it’s bit like a really exciting puzzle that she has to work out.

“I think she’s up to the challenge. Basically, she’s like, ‘I want you.’ whereas beforehand, she didn’t, she didn’t really like him. Then she sees what a brilliant doctor he is and it’s a complete aphrodisiac when someone’s really good at being a doctor.

“She’s like, ‘Yeah, this is nice and she’s completely fascinated by him and she’s like, ‘I’m gonna make you like me’. Whereas beforehand, she thought, ‘You don’t like me. Whatever.’ But she changes. She changes tack with him.”

“She basically thought he was a certain type of bloke, and she was wrong about him. And I think she realises actually he’s quite sensitive, he’s a bit vulnerable.

“He’s a little bit of a loner, really. And she thinks she’s kind of tarnished him with the same brush, because of her experiences in her past love life, I suppose.

“So it’s still that kind of, ‘Will they? Won’t they?’ rom com vibes. She’s starting to obviously fancy him but at the same time, he really gets on her nerves.

“And obviously he’s slightly on the spectrum so she finds him difficult to read sometimes. I think it’s quite an interesting dynamic.

“But he, he doesn’t really have any filter, does he? And so I think even though she works in mental health and comes across all different people in all different types of walks of life, when it comes to him and he and the romantic [thing], it kind of takes her aback. She doesn’t really know how to read him,” she admitted.

While Sophia has been making her admiration for Dylan very obvious he is currently more wrapped up in his dog Dervla who has been dignosed with cancer.

Despite this everyone else in Holby ED, bar him, seems to have noticed the spark between the pair.

“We have a little bit of a, ‘I’m gonna get him kind of thing’,”she laughs. It’s a really fun dynamic to play because that that’s what it is in real life, isn’t it? That cat and mouse thing. It’s no fun if you get them straight away,” she teased.
