Casualty has aired a heartbreaking character twist, in the show’s latest episode.
In the previous boxset of episodes, Stevie got involved in an affair with Siobhan’s husband Rich. After Rich ended his marriage, Siobhan found out the truth and was devastated.
Stevie has tried to move on from Rich and made clear that their relationship was over, but in last week’s episode she realised that she still wanted to be with him and the pair kissed.

In this week’s episode, paramedic Indie was shocked to receive a call on shift from a woman on a plane which was crashing.
As Rich told Siobhan that they would tell the children about their separation that evening, he rushed off to the scene of the plane crash in his role as a firefighter.
The hospital team braced for a rush of casualties from the plane, and busy Stevie ignored a voicemail from Rich. But she and Siobhan both grew worried when Dylan explained that there had been an explosion at the crash site.

A firefighter with severe burns was admitted to the ED and Stevie was concerned that it was Rich. She called a distraught Siobhan over, who confirmed that it wasn’t her husband, but one of his colleagues instead.
Siobhan and Stevie shared an emotional moment together and made amends, before Rich was later brought in, covered in ash from the explosion.
Rich seemed relatively unharmed, but while Siobhan was talking to him during his CT scan, he took a turn for the worse. As he deteriorated, Rich told Siobhan to tell Stevie he loves her, leaving Siobhan heartbroken.

The team tried their best to save his life with Siobhan watching on, but in emotional scenes, Rich sadly died from his injuries.
Stevie soon found out about Rich’s death and listened to the voicemail he left for her earlier that day as she tried to hide her grief for her secret partner.
