He was treated by surgeon Russell, who is also his father-in-law – and who realised that Flynn had been cheating on his daughter and having an affair.
Two months later, a recovered Flynn returned to Holby and told his old friend Stevie that he would be starting as the new clinical lead in the ED.
In this week’s episode, Flynn arrived for his first shift to find the ED in chaos and discovered that this was just a normal day in the hospital.
He told the team that patients will now be sent straight up to the wards if they needed admitting, and while the team were reluctant, Tariq was happy about these big changes.
Flynn quickly made enemies in other departments, with no beds for the patients being sent their way. Jodie was torn between Flynn and Russell’s orders, and when Tariq pledged to sort things out, he ended up leaving patient Gloria in the reception area.
Russell criticised Flynn’s big changes and while he defended his actions, Russell reminded him that he knew about his major betrayal.
Flynn then went back on his orders as his plan was upsetting other wards, leaving Tariq frustrated. Things got worse when Flynn discovered Gloria lying dead in reception amid the chaos of the day.
He later held a meeting with the team about what had went wrong and Tariq tried to blame the nursing staff, though it was his mistake that led to Gloria’s death.
The pair had a huge argument about Tariq bucking responsibility, and Flynn suddenly fired him. It was established that he couldn’t do this, but Tariq decided to quit anyway.
Tariq made plans to pursue a job in Dubai and asked his cousin Rash to join him. But it was clear that Rash’s heart was still in Holby, so Tariq left the ED alone.
Is this the last we have seen of Tariq?
