Casualty’s Teddy Gowan star says ‘it’s not the end’ as he details outcome of assault story

Casualty viewers were heartbroken when paramedic Teddy Gowan was se xually assaulted by a hen party in April.

Casualty’s Teddy Gowan, played by Milo Clarke, finally seems to have come to terms with his se xual assualt in the latest episode of the long running BBC medical drama as he reports it to the police and tries to get on with his life. But coming face to face with his assailant in the Holby car park wasn’t something he planned on.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk Milo Clarke, who plays the traumatised paramedic, said that despite these developments Teddy still doesn’t have closure on the incident.

“I think he has to trust that the right thing will happen [but] it’s not like quite a linear sort of process. There’s still going to be things that crop up and I think he’s very aware of that.

“[When] he sees Hayley (his assailant) again she comes to try and apologise but it’s more of a, ‘Oh, I’m sorry – look at what’s happened to me’ type thing. That’s what she comes with.

“And that’s the first time he opens up and says, ‘you have no clue how this has made it feel’. That’s the first time you really see how much it has got to him.

“I think that shows that it’s not going to be this is not gonna be the end of it for him,” he teased.

While Milo can’t give away spoilers with the assault reported to the police and Hayley charged there is a possibility that he may have to face her in court and he admits this is something that would be on Teddy’s mind.

“I mean, with these cases, when it gets to court, a lot of people it doesn’t even go that far because people get embarrassed and they think, ‘Oh, well, I don’t want more people knowing about it’.

“And I think Teddy is very much thinking like that. He has a good support system around him with Jodi, with Ian, with Jan so I think they will be the ones helping him through this.

“They’re a good team to have [on your side] and I think he does feel protected by them. He’s definitely going to struggle to live with it.”

One are that has been hugely affected by the aftermath of Teddy’s assault is his work and he found himself suspended after he hit a man in the ED. Milo admitted that the repercussions of this continue for a while.

“He just has to observe again, he can’t treat patients and basically it’s like a big slap on the wrist kind of thing. I think he’s open to doing this process and to going down this route, because he knows he could hopefully get his job back.

“He thinks, ‘Okay. Well, people know the situation I’m in now, and they know I wasn’t in the right mindset, and this would never happen again in any normal circumstances’. So I think hopefully he knows that this is the this is going to help him now.”
