‘Don’t ruin her espresso in Paris’: Ex-Home and Away star Melissa George trolled after infamous Australia comments resurface

Melissa George’s notorious comments about Australia have cropped up once again after an unearthed clip of the actress on Home and Away recently surfaced on social media.

George, 48, famously played the character Angel Brooks, opposite Dieter Brummer’s Shane Parrish on the long-running soap opera for three years in the mid-1990s.

However, the Aussie star would later refuse to answer questions about Home and Away and repeatedly slam the show which launched her career.

In an unearthed clip from the soap which is doing the rounds on Instagram, Melissa is seen in a dramatic confrontation with co-star Isla Fisher, who played Shannon on the show.

“Should tag Melissa George in this. I’m sure she would really love that,” one fan joked.

“Pathetic acting from Melissa George. No wonder she doesn’t like reminders of her time on H & A,” a second said.

“Don’t ruin her espresso in Paris,” a third user wrote.

The actress relocated to Los Angeles in 1997 and has enjoyed an impressive film career, including roles in iconic movies like Mulholland Drive and co-star billing alongside Ryan Reynolds on The Amityville Horror.

George even received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the HBO series In Treatment.

Nevertheless, the actress infamously fumed to journalist Christine Sams in 2012 after being asked about the soap opera again, prompting George to tell her countrymen to “be quiet”.

“I don’t need credibility from my country any more, I just need them all to be quiet,” she said.

“If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don’t speak to me any more.

“I’d rather be having a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City.”

The comments drew scorn at the time, but the journalist later public defended George in 2017 after the actress was involved in a highly publicised domestic violence and child custody dispute in France.
