Good news for “Casualty” fans! Olly Rix, who portrays the popular character Flynn Byron, has confirmed he will remain on the BBC medical drama. Rix, who joined “Casualty” after his stint on “Call the Midwife,” assured viewers that Flynn isn’t going anywhere, much to the relief of those invested in his complex storyline.

In an interview with Hello!, Rix revealed the extensive amount of filmed content already in the pipeline: “We’ve been filming for a year, and you’ve only had ten episodes. We have 40 something in the bank now. So, Flynn’s not going anywhere.” He described his year on set as “overwhelmingly busy” and “all-consuming,” emphasizing the immersive experience of portraying a doctor with long shifts.

The 40-year-old actor also praised “Casualty” for its courageous approach to difficult themes. Currently, Flynn is entangled in a deep ethical dilemma. His father-in-law, Russell Whitelaw (Robert Bathurst), has been exposed for sexually assaulting Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari). Russell is leveraging Flynn’s past infidelity, threatening to reveal it if Flynn exposes the assault to Rida.

Speaking to The Mirror, Rix explained the precarious situation: “They’re not actively at war, they’re not fighting. He’s saying, providing you don’t do anything, I won’t do anything. Flynn has to choose to step into that fire and say ‘I’m going to risk it all, or he won’t.'” This intense predicament leaves Flynn facing a profound personal and moral choice.
