Home and Away: Lynne McGranger shares touching final tribute to Home and Away co-stars and fans.

Home and Away legend Lynne McGranger has officially filmed her final scenes.

It was announced last month that the actor, who has played Irene Roberts on the Australian soap since 1993, would be stepping away from the role after nearly 33 years.

It’s now been confirmed that McGranger has filmed her final scenes as Irene, which will air later this year.

The soap star filmed her final scene at the iconic Pier Diner before being presented with a bouquet of flowers by Home and Away producer Lucy Addario, as well as a ‘Hamburger Phone’ as a tribute to the diner’s famous prop.

McGranger thanked the crew and her fellow cast members, saying: “I love each and every one of you so much.”

“The art department, the writers, everybody – there’s so many unsung heroes. This show is made up of so many parts,” she added.

“You’re all amazing, and it’s been my great privilege to work with each and every one of you. I’m touched, I’m humbled and I’m so honoured. Thank you so much.”

McGranger was then applauded by a large group of the cast and crew as she exited the studio doors for the last time.

Announcing her departure from the show last month, McGranger said: “After almost 33 years in my dream role and working everyday with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it’s bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life.

“I am forever grateful to the best production crew in the world and to our genius writers – whose doors are always open – for everything they have done for Irene over the past 33-odd years, and I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay.

“Above all, a massive, heartfelt thank you to the fans for your continued love and support.”
