Two years after bidding farewell to Home and Away, fan-favorite duo Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor are making a thrilling return to the show. As they step back into the roles of Ziggy and Dean, an explosive new storyline is set to shake things up. Meanwhile, Dillman is also heading to Mandurah Crab Fest next weekend, eagerly anticipating the event. “I love Perth, I love seafood—those crabs better watch out because I’ll be eating every single one,” she joked in an interview with The Sunday Times.
The couple, who fell in love while starring on the hit series for six years, had been living in the UK but were flown back specifically for this exciting storyline. “The idea for the storyline just fit so well with our characters and what they stood for,” Dillman explained. “Saying no would’ve been stupid.” Their return was met with overwhelming love from fans, making it an easy decision to step back into Summer Bay—at least for now.
Filming took place last October in the breathtaking Whitsundays, which held a special meaning for Dillman. “We’re originally from Queensland, and selfishly, I’d never been to those parts before. It was the perfect combination—coming home, seeing family, and doing what I love with the people I love,” she shared. In fact, the couple enjoyed their time back in Australia so much that they decided to move home permanently. Dillman has already returned with their dog, while O’Connor remains in the UK for work and travel before rejoining her.
As their on-screen return unfolds, Levi surprises Mackenzie with tickets to Queensland, leading them to reconnect with Dean and Ziggy, who have built a new life with their now-grown baby. But in true Home and Away fashion, drama follows them. A supposed family getaway takes a terrifying turn when Ziggy and Mackenzie are kidnapped by two escaped prisoners, leaving Dean and Levi in a desperate race to save them.
With this electrifying storyline, fans are left wondering—could this return be permanent? “I’d love to come back to the Bay,” Dillman admitted. “I always say I want to be Marilyn when I grow up.”
