Trying to keep the family peace, Xander invites Cash over for lunch at their new apartment. Unimpressed, Rose protests that she’s establishing boundaries with Cash. Xander won’t relent, so Rose agrees to lunch, but she won’t promise to play nice. Xander has his work cut out for him between Cash and Rose.

Tex and Rose strike a friendly chord, despite Xander’s judgemental air. Unable to bite her tongue, Rose lashes out at Cash, accusing him of organising the family lunch in cahoots with Xander. After getting a taste of Rose’s attitude, Cash decides he’s lost his appetite for family lunch, much to Xander’s irritation.

Witnessing the tension spill over, Irene intervenes, inviting Cash to consider what Jasmine would want: the family on good terms. Hearing her out, Cash decides to give lunch a second chance.

After witnessing Rose’s frustration with Cash, Tex offers to join her at family lunch to ease the tension. Rose is flattered by his generosity and takes him up on it. But when Rose arrives with Tex in tow, Xander is not pleased with her little plus one stunt.

Over an awkward lunch, Rose makes a show of her hot connection with Tex. To Xander and Cash’s relief, Tex is called out for a meeting. Without Tex as decoy, Rose turns to wine to avoid reconciliation.

Infuriated by Rose’s reluctance to resolve, Cash storms out of lunch. Exasperated, Xander accuses Rose of using Tex to get over Cash. Incensed, Rose tells Xander that like it or not, Tex is her way of getting over Cash.

Meanwhile, back from Merimbula, Roo is given a hero’s welcome at the Diner. Marilyn is quick to introduce the diligent Tex to Roo, who has kept the caravan park and bait shop afloat in her absence. Tex is all grace and charm with Roo, making a good impression.

When they get a moment alone, Marilyn admits to Roo that she has no jobs left for Tex to do, though she promised him a full month’s work. Ever the pragmatist, Roo declares she’ll handle it. But when Tex disarms Roo with gratitude for giving him a job when he was down, Roo can’t follow through with it.

Elsewhere, Justin’s guilty conscience over Theo’s TAFE assignment debacle sends him grovelling to Theo. But it’s going to take more than a gourmet breakfast to get Justin back in Theo’s good books. On edge about his pending exam results, Theo rejects Justin’s peace offerings. If his result isn’t good enough, the tutors will assume Theo is a cheat. Justin feels awful, knowing it’s his fault and unable to help.

Much to their relief, Theo passes with flying colours, if not the 80% he initially scored. But Theo’s pleased – now he’s not considered a cheat. But the same can’t be said for Justin, who gets a call from the TAFE tutor with bad news: Justin can no longer teach apprentices. What does this mean for the future of Theo’s apprenticeship?
