Mali Hudson is headed for a bruising blow to his pride in Home and Away, as a new storyline sees him publicly humiliated by someone he trusted.

After months of trying to find stability in his personal and professional life, Mali’s world starts to unravel when Kirby Aramoana makes a big decision to chase her dreams again. Having already walked away from Lyrik and attempted a solo career, Kirby now decides it’s time to try again—this time for real. Her first step? Quitting her job at Mali’s surfboard shop, where she’s been helping out.

Although Mali is blindsided by Kirby’s decision, he puts on a brave face and pretends he’s not affected. In reality, he’s feeling the pressure mount—especially as the shop already demands more of his time than he can afford. Still, Mali refuses to ask for help, bottling everything up instead.

Trying to support him, girlfriend Abigail comes up with a clever, if manipulative, plan. She asks Kirby to pretend to be upset about leaving the job so Mali will feel encouraged to start the search for her replacement. The tactic works—Mali begins making moves to fill the gap—but the illusion of calm is short-lived.

Everything explodes when a journalist named Seb, who visited the board shop to interview Kirby for a feature, publishes a damning article. While the focus is meant to be on Kirby’s fresh musical start, Seb paints a harsh picture of Mali, describing him as an “incompetent boss.” The interview was conducted at the shop, so Mali feels blindsided and betrayed—especially since Kirby never warned him about the article’s content.

What’s worse, when Mali confronts Abigail, she admits the article wasn’t far off the mark. She tells him he was rude and standoffish during the interview, and that the journalist merely wrote what he observed. Feeling ganged up on and deeply humiliated, Mali cuts off contact with Kirby, ruining what should’ve been a respectful goodbye. Unable to contain his frustration, he storms off, furious with both women.

As cracks begin to show, it’s clear that Mali’s pride and temper may cost him dearly—not just his friendships, but potentially the future of his surfboard business too. With tension now festering between him, Abigail, and Kirby, Mali finds himself more isolated than ever.

Can Mali swallow his pride and rebuild the bridges he’s burning? Or is this the beginning of a downward spiral he might not recover from?

Home and Away’s Mali Hudson is set to be publicly humiliated in a new storyline after Kirby Aramoana quits the surfboard shop.

Back in 2023, Kirby decided to quit the local band Lyrik to become a solo artist but soon began to regret her choice.

After attempting to get out of her solo contract with manager Forrest Duke, Kirby and the band found a way to get around the contract, and she later rejoined Lyrik.

However, things didn’t last, and the band have since split up. In upcoming scenes, Kirby will leave her role as Mali’s helper at the surfboard shop in order to pursue a solo career.

In scenes set to air in the UK in a couple of months, Kirby quits her job at the board shop in order to chase her dreams (via Now To Love).

Kirby’s decision puts Mali under pressure, but he pretends everything is fine instead of reaching out for help.

In an attempt to help Mali to start searching for a replacement employee for Kirby, Mali’s girlfriend Abigail asks Kirby to pretend that she is upset. The plan works and Mali becomes more productive.

Things take a turn when Mali reads an article by a journalist named Seb who came to Summer Bay to interview Kirby.

In the interview, which took place at the board shop, Mali is described as an incompetent boss. Mali is infuriated after reading the article and refuses to speak to Kirby, which ruins her goodbye.

Adding to Mali’s rage, Abigail tells him that the article didn’t lie and he was actually quite rude when the interview was taking place. Mali storms away.
