I’m Very Worried About David Boreanaz’s Jason In SEAL Team Season 7

As SEAL Team season 7 nears, I’m becoming more worried about David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes. The CBS military drama has six seasons under its belt, with the seventh and final outing set to premiere in August 2024. The long-running series centers on Bravo Team — a subunit of the US Naval Special Warfare Development Group — as the elite Navy SEALs take on dangerous missions across the globe. The well-written characters were what I found most compelling about SEAL Team in its debut season. For the most part, that hasn’t changed over the show’s many outings.

Boreanaz’s Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes — a.k.a. Bravo 1 — is the leader of Bravo Team, which means he takes on a lot of responsibility for his SEALs. That unwavering dedication is what makes Jason easy to root for, though it’s also a trait Boreanaz brings to most of his TV show roles. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Bones, David Boreanaz’s characters are devoted to a fault. Of course, I’m worried that the character’s steadfast nature is part of what will get Jason Hayes into trouble during SEAL Team season 7.

Why I’m Worried Jason Will Die In SEAL Team Season 7

The Final Season Of The Military Drama Could End Tragically

SEAL Team will end with its seventh season, which means no one is safe in the show’s upcoming batch of episodes. With season 7 being the show’s last, it’s possible that Jason Hayes will finally die in combat after years of close calls and life-threatening missions. In some ways, Jason’s death looks like the only “out” for the character. I can’t really imagine Bravo Team’s leader stepping away from his job otherwise. Although it would be a tragic ending for the SEAL Team character, a noble mid-skirmish death does seem like an obvious way to conclude Jason’s story.

There would be no possibility of continuing the story of David Boreanaz’s character in the future…

If SEAL Team season 7 kills off its main character, the show’s conclusion will have more of a definitive ending stamp on it. There would be no possibility of continuing the story of the David Boreanaz-led show in the future if Paramount+ pursues spinoffs or sequels. That said, Jason’s death could be the most emotional and dramatic way to end the show. SEAL Team is great at building tension during its action set-pieces, and having a mission go sideways — or give Jason the opportunity to make a sacrificial play — would certainly be memorable.

Would Jason Dying In SEAL Team Season 7 Be A Good Thing?

Jason’s Death Is The Most Fitting End For The SeriesJason Hayes (David Boreanaz) faces command on SEAL Team Season 6 Episode 10.

Although I would be sad to see Jason Hayes go during SEAL Team season 7’s release, the character’s death does seem like the most fitting end for the series. When the show begins, Jason is grappling with the loss of his friend, Nate Massey. Even so, Jason never backs down from a mission — even when it comes at great personal cost. Given how much Jason has sacrificed for his country and teammates, it seems apt that he’d leave it all on the battlefield. So, I’m hedging my bets that Boreanaz’s Jason will die in the SEAL Team series finale.
