BBC drama Casualty has posted a tribute video to two of its much-loved characters as the show remains off air.

The Saturday night favourite, which used to air weekly, has been off screens since September with no return date currently confirmed.

It was recently revealed that Casualty would be cutting its number of episodes in a bid for the BBC to save money amid the cost of living crisis.

The impact is already being felt as it has left fans crying out for information on the show.

However, amid its absence, the show’s social media platforms uploaded a clip to celebrate the on-screen partnership between two of the medical drama’s favourite personalities.

Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) and Faith Cadogen (Kirsty Mitchell) could be seen in the clip as the BBC looked back on their time in A+E.

Elinor is expected to depart the role of Stevie soon when the show eventually returns from its hiatus.

The uploading of the clip sparked a frenzy among fans as they shared their many thoughts with some being in awe of the two popular characters with others questioning what the upload truly meant.

It led to a flurry of comments on X – formerly Twitter – above the video.

One penned: “I love Faith and Stevie’s friendship.”

Another added: “Good friends always get past any grief.”

As a third shared: “The perfect friendship.”

Before a fourth stated: “Missing them from my TV screen! Hasn’t this break gone on long enough now?”

Casualty launched in 1986 and is now the world’s longest-running medical drama.

It started as a 15-part series and eventually hit 48 episodes a year.

Aside from during Covid, the last time it was as short as the latest 36-part series was in 2000.

Actor Derek Thompson, who plays nurse Charlie Fairhead, has been in the show since the first episode but will leave in 2024.
