TV star best known for major role in Casualty joins Coronation Street

Richard Winsor, best known for his role as A&E doctor Caleb Knight, is swapping Casualty for Coronation Street as he’s set to make his debut on the cobbles.

Winsor’s Weatherfield debut marks his first major soap role since Caleb was brutally stabbed to death by Scott Ellisson (Will Austin)  in Casualty back in 2017.

Richard will be entering the ITV show as a brand-new character, Noah Hedley, an old friend of Vicar Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).

Billy’s old friend’s sudden arrival sets off alarm bells for Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), who immediately recognises Noah from a traumatic chapter in his past.

Theo reveals to his boyfriend, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), that Noah was a part of the conversion therapy he was forced to endure as a teenager by his deeply religious parents.

The shock revelation is sure to bring up unresolved trauma for Theo as he’s set to come face to face with his past.

For Winsor, returning to the soap world as Noah marks a major comeback after a string of high-profile roles.

As well as Casualty, he also starred in Hollyoaks as the seductive Father Francis, best remembered for having an affair with Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna).

As reported in The Sun, Noah’s first scenes are due to air later this month, and given that it’s Weatherfield, we’re sure he won’t be slipping in quietly and his arrival will ruffle a few feathers.
